No one has been expecting a sequel to E.T.

A short film reuniting E.T. and Henry Thomas from the 1982 movie, 'E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, ' premiered during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 28, and it's wonderful. Spielberg actually planned to make a direct sequel called Nocturnal Fears in which E.T. returned to save Elliot and his friends from a group of malevolent aliens.

It is also implied that E.T. has a family of his own, as he looks longingly into a tiny orb that glows with the holograms of a tinier E.T. And, yes, they even got grown up Henry Thomas back to reprise his role from the original movie. I won't lie, I teared up a little.

It's in the form of a new short film featuring Xfinity.

Trump impeachment: released documents reveal Giuliani-Pompeo links
Pompeo gave the documents to a subordinate, who provided them to the legal counsel at the State Department , the source said. The arrangement for the call happened even before the documents were given to Pompeo.

Stephen van Rooyen, CEO UK & Ireland, Sky said: "It's an honour to bring E.T. back to Earth in this new festive short story, helping us to celebrate the magic of family time at Christmas and Sky's part in bringing our customers together at this special time of year". Yeah, that was re-created, too, with Elliott's kids this time around. "The classic friendship between E.T. and Elliott resonates around the world, and their story became a very meaningful way to bring our company's consumer technology to life".

In the holiday ad for American digital cable provider Xfinity, which premiered Thursday morning during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, E.T.is seen reuniting with a grown-up Elliot (played again by Henry Thomas), who is now a middle-aged married man with two kids.

At the end of the day, it may be a corporate-branded way of tapping into nostalgia, but it works. "It's really a win-win", said Thomas in a statement.
